START FROM A LITTLE EXERCISE

Writing is a habit. Everyone who can read, they can write. The students must be able to read. They read the materials they study. They study many lessons. One of them is English. English in many people's opinion is difficult subject. But if you enjoy to learn, you will say English is an easy and fun lesson.

If you can speak English fluently, you will get success in job. Because at this time the company that has jobs needs persons can speak and write English fluently. Do you like to get good job in the future life? I hope you will get good job. However, one of the reasons you must be able in English well.

So, use your English dictionaries, magazines and all the things you have to improve your English ability. This issue is about writing exercise using Hello magazine. I am en English teacher in SMPN 1 Jaken Pati. I finished studying English in Semarang State University of Semarang in 2002.

In SMPN 1 Jaken Pati, I teach English in extra time. In the morning before the students study as usual, I teach English. We call it JAM KE-0. In the morning, we study English especially in speaking and writing. When I teach writing, I arrange the students and give motivation to them to write something. They write different themes every Saturday and collect to me.

Then, I read and correct them. In front of the class, we discuss the students' essays. We discuss about grammar, diction, role of writing, punctuation and so on. It is done to make the students know their mistakes and don't do the same mistakes another time. After I correct them, the students rewrite in their books. If they do it seriously, they will study many things in English. They can improve their vocabularies, enrich and use grammar in the writing correctly. This ability can be used to make other issues, poems or short stories.

If they can write poems or shorts stories, they can send to Hello Magazine to be printed. If they do it, I can give them good marks. This is my experience in teaching and learning of writing in English. Do you want to do as I do? I hope the teachers who read this issue can do as I do or more.

This is a little experience to improve our English. Use Hello magazine to learning writing. You can write a letter or poems and send to reader's forum or bulletin board. If your writing is published, your name will be famous. Your writing will be read by your friends, teachers and everyone. It is a way to actualize your ability in English writing, isn't it? You can be as Agatha Christie, JK Rowling and also Holy Ametaty in writing novels or short stories. All of them start their writing habit from studying and practising English to be famous writer. All begins from s little thing. So, the secret of success is to know something nobody else knows (Aristotle Onasis)
